RE-BOOT project results were presented by the partners at the closing event.

The RE-BOOT project, launched in November 2019, has been completed within the RE-START Action Plan. The results of the project were presented by the project partners at a closing event organized in Szob, at the József Attila Cultural and Leisure Center.

In her welcome speech, Gyöngyi Ferencz, Mayor of Szob, stressed that the RE-START action plan will bring about improvements of great importance for the region. The new social infrastructure in the area, including the Szob senior citizens’ home, which will not only reduce the waiting lists in the region but also create jobs, is particularly important for the aging population. The RE-BOOT project has also been designed to promote the health of the border population by providing a screening bus to offer diagnostic tests in addition to ultrasound examinations, which are difficult to access in the region. The screening bus will be present at major events in the region, providing direct access to residents.

At the closing event, Gábor Popovics, Director of Pontibus ETT, the coordinator of the RE-START action plan, presented the structure, rationale, timing and current status of the projects.

Simon Molnár, on behalf of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, presented the main experiences of the mentor training and mentoring of inactive residents in the region. The mentoring program has contributed to increasing employment in the region, as it has helped to provide employment to several previously inactive border residents. The training and supervision of the mentors was provided by the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, while the mentoring was carried out by the staff of the Szob District Family and Child Welfare Center.

An online capacity coordination system was implemented to coordinate existing and newly established social institutional capacities in the region and to make certain social activities more efficient, which was presented by Zoltán Ujlaky, head of the Szob District Family and Child Welfare Center. The system is suitable for coordinating the regional labor supply and demand, but it also helps the mentoring program to continue by providing flexible online access to mentors through an online appointment booking system.

Small and medium-sized enterprises participating in the RE-BOOT project have been the flagship of employment expansion efforts. Natur Products Németh s.r.o. specializes in the processing of honey and the production of honey jams, honey wine, honey chocolate cream, honey syrups and other local products, while Mira Office s.r.o. is a major player in the distribution of office supplies and school equipment. Both companies have acquired equipment to expand their production capacity, while at the same time increasing employment.
